Travis' 2019 Polaris General 1000

Travis' 2019 Polaris General 1000

This 2019 Polaris General 1000 that was brought to us had been absolutely thrashed! After being rode hard for 4,500 miles and put up wet every time, the Fox 2.0 QS3 shocks were tired and completely worn out.

Phase 1: SAY NO TO LIFT KITS

Upon receiving the General, the customer had factory springs in combination with a SuperATV lift kit and the VERY first solution to a better ride quality was to ditch the lift kit. Lift kits relocate shock mount locations to more vertical which completely changes how the suspension system responds to every input.

Phase 2: Shock Rebuild

Due to seal failure, two of the four shocks had lost all nitrogen pressure. This allowed the seal heads to slide in and out causing premature wear on both the seal heads and bodies. This ended up in both seal heads and one of the two bodies being replaced. But after years of neglect, we were able to revive them with a few new components, new seals, and new oil.

Phase 3: Dual Rate Spring Kit and Valve Tuning

The spring seats on the Polaris General are a non-standard dimension, so we had custom spring adapters made to fit standard aftermarket spring sizes. The new dual rate spring kit was a night and day difference for this vehicle! With the factory valving and new spring kit, the vehicle responded well at trail higher speeds, but it there was still excessive jostling when riding at slower "group paced" speeds. This was a simple fix with a minor valving adjustment! In both the front and rear shocks.

We also added our upgraded, heavy-duty nitrogen caps to make sure this General never loses nitrogen pressure again!
